Athletic Therapy

Jessica Vaisanen

Here at DEL.FIT we do things DIFFERENTLY.

Whatever your passion, Certified Athletic Therapists keep you doing what you love!

What is Athletic Therapy at DEL.FIT?

Athletic Therapy at DEL.FIT is the first step to getting you back to a pain-free life. Athletic Therapy is the study of muscles, bones and joints and how to rehabilitate injuries involving these tissues. Athletic Therapy is an active form of rehabilitation that uses a combination of hands-on treatment and exercise to get you back to the activities that you love!

What can you expect from your Athletic Therapy Assessment?

During your first appointment, you and our Certified Athletic Therapist will take a comprehensive look at the details of your injury. Together we will complete a series of functional movement tests to identify any compensations being made and to uncover the cause of your injury. From the assessment findings, an individualized rehab program will be created. Nearing the end of your initial assessment, you can expect some hands-on treatment as well as 2-3 exercises you will be expected to complete at home before your next appointment.

What does rehab with an Athletic Therapist look like?

The rehab approach at DEL.FIT is active. This means that we use a combination of exercises and hands-on treatment to achieve our goal of getting you back to a pain free life. Exercises are used to target specific areas of the body and address any imbalances that may be causing the injury or contributing to your pain. This could mean building the stability or mobility of a joint, correcting muscle imbalances, improving functional movements, improving joint and limb awareness through proprioception exercises and increasing strength. Hands-on treatment will change as you recover from your injury. In the beginning it may start with lighter massage and fascial techniques and then may progress into joint mobilizations and muscle stripping. It is important to remember that each rehab program is individualized to the client. Constant reassessing of the injury and monitoring of recovery progress ensures that you able to reach your goal as safely and swiftly as possible.
